William de Hurcote, In Thomas Walsingham, Catalogue Of the Benefactors Of St. Albans Abbey
Medium: Ink and pigments on vellum
This manuscript was originally compiled in 1380 by Thomas Walsingham, the precentor of the Benedictine abbey of St. Albans, as a record of those who had made gifts to the abbey.
This image shows William de Hurcote, rector of Waltham Parva, holding a book and a money-bag. The text records that in addition to cash, he gave the abbey a complete set of civil law books in 1387.
