The main scribes of this Psalter have been identified in other manuscripts made for Leofric, bishop of Exeter from 1046 to 1072. Like those manuscripts, this one was probably given by him to the cathedral. Although the calendar was added more than a century after the 11th-century Psalter was written, the additions to the calendar show that the manuscript was still at Exeter, and almost certainly still at the cathedral. Among the additions on this page, that three-quarters of the way down, at 23 May, records 'the feast of the relics of the blessed Peter, Exeter' (Festum reliquiarum ecclesie beati Petri Exon.')
