Although the script, decoration, and liturgical features all show that this little Psalter was made in Flanders in the mid 13th century, two inscriptions state that it belonged in the abbot's room at the Cistercian abbey at Pipewell, a few miles north of Kettering in Northamptonshire, in the 15th century. The Occupation of the Month for November shows a man knocking acorns from trees to feed pigs.
