This Missal belonged in the Middle Ages to the Augustinian Priory of Guisborough, about ten miles east of Stockton-on-Tees and five miles south of Redcar, as shown by a number of entries in its calendar, including: commemorations of Robert Bruce, the founder and his wife; several of the priors; and records of fires which occurred there in the 12th and 14th centuries. The commemorations of 'Robert de Brus' (11 May, in red), and records of fires in 1289 and 1413 are in the right-hand column of this page of the calendar.
