Ralph of Diceto (d. 1202) gained an education in Paris, and became a dean of St. Paul's Cathedral in 1180. He wrote a variety of historical works. Added to this flyleaf is a genealogy from King Ethelred (who died in 866), down through William the Conqueror and Henry II, to the nine children of Edward I and Eleanor of Castile. This must have been written after 1290, when their daughter Margaret married. Towards the lower right corner is the title of the manuscript: 'Cronica R. de Diceto'.
