Pseudo-Aristotle, 'Secret Of Secrets'

The 'Secreta Secretorum' (Secret of Secrets) was believed to have been written by Aristotle, in the form of a letter to his pupil King Alexander the Great. The most popular Latin translation was made in the 13th century, at the request of a Bishop of Tripoli. At the right of the miniature a kneeling messenger receives the letter from Aristotle, destined for Alexander, who watches from the large initial below. Above him, everything is observed by the Bishop of Tripoli.
