Following the Life of St. John of Beverley by Folcard, at the front of this manuscript, is a sort of cartulary: copies of royal, papal and Episcopal charters and privileges granted to Beverley Minster. The manuscript must therefore have been written for, and very probably at, Beverley.

A copy of a charter of King Edward I (1272-1307) is introduced by this 'portrait' of the monarch.
