Containing a variety of texts having to do with theology, church services and natural science, this manuscript belonged in the late middle ages to Rochester cathedral priory, but it may not originally have come from there.

This page in it comes from a copy of twenty-seven chapters of a synodal pronouncement, thought to have been authored by an English bishop. In the lower margin, an inscription of the 13th century has been erased. It had identified the book as the property of a monastery or priory, the name of which is now illegible. It pronounces an anathema on anyone who removes it: 'he is commended with Dathon and Abiron", referring to the two biblical rebels (Numbers 16) who were swallowed up by the earth.
