Some of the standard texts found in medieval monastic libraries were so long that they were routinely bound in several large volumes. Others were so short that is was not worth the expense of binding them separately, and they were therefore bound up together with other short works. Once several works had been bound as a group, they might often be copied as a group, creating a textual tradition: sometimes the travels of a text can be traced back--like tracing back a family tree--based on the works bound with it. Although there are no explicit marks of ownership, this manuscript can be identified as one that was catalogued in 1622-3 in the library of Worcester cathedral. The volume opens with St. Fulgentius's (468-533) treatise 'On Faith', which starts with a letter addressed to a certain peter, who was about to embark on a pilgrimage.
