This initial uses common decorative features in rather unusual ways, notably the use of a green and red ground for one half of the interior of initial, and plain red penwork for the other half. Manuscripts from Coggeshall often show eccentric decorative types (see also Royal MS. 6 D.vi), suggesting that they were produced locally.
