Robert de Torigni (d. 1186) was abbot of Mont-Saint-Michel from 1154, which put him in a good position to hear about significant events in Normandy and England. He compiled his of the world by combining the works of older authors, and then making additions and a continuation. The first version continued as far as 1169 (as in this manuscript), and he superseded by a 'second edition', which continued to 1182. This copy has a flyleaf inscription stating that in the 16th century it was given to the house of St. Thomas of Acon, in London, by James, Earl of Ormonde (1539-1546), who was buried there. This page, with its fine initial 'T', contains the start of the chronicle of Sigebert of Gembloux (c.1035-1112), covering the years 381 to 1100.
