This copy has a 14th-century ownership inscription of St. Peter's Abbey, Gloucester, and the style of script and decoration are very similar to that of manuscripts from Winchcombe, about 15 miles to the north-east. Although now rather damaged, this page once formed a handsome start to the text. Its large initial 'C' contains a bust of a bishop, presumably Clement, who is the subject of the first sentence. The upper margin is inscribed with the Gloucester ownership note: 'Liber monasterii Sancti Petri Gloucestrie'.
