The ownership inscription in the lower margin indicates that the manuscript was given by lord 'H' of Crantock (probably by Henry de Trefeuwa) , to the Franciscan convent of Bodmin (Cornwall), and this had been arranged by the agency of Brother Richard of St. Columb and Brother Geoffrey Werdour, who were therefore to have use of the book for the duration of their lives: 'Istum librum dedit dominus H, decanus sancti Karentoci communitati fratrum minorum Bodmun per procuracionem fratris Ricardi de sancta Columba et fratris Galfridi Werdour, ita quod predicti fratres habeant vsum ad tempus vite'.
