This is the first page of Peter Comestor's most famous work, the Historia Scholastica, a narrative biblical history from the Creation to the Acts of the Apostles, which reconciles differences between different biblical accounts, and fills gaps in the narrative by recourse to other early writings, such as those of the Church Fathers. This is a relatively modest copy of the text, the coloured initials being fairly simple, and not particularly large.
