View from the river opposite the new bath at Matlock in Derbyshire. Matlock is actually a group of hamlets, one of which is Matlock Bath. Matlock has thermal springs. The bath was first built of wood lined with lead in 1698. Around 1725 it was replaced with a new stone bath and bath house. Matlock Bath, the road to, and the river are crammed into this narrow gorge.
