A view of Sir Edward Walpole's house at Isleworth
Engraver: Spyers, John
Medium: Aquatint with etching
During the latter half of the 18th century Isleworth became a fashionable place to live and several large mansions were built by the riverside. The large classical style house in this print, belongs to Sir Edward Walpole, son of prime minister Sir Robert Walpole and brother of Horace Walpole. It had a fashionable garden folly and small gazebo visible in the grounds.
