A view of New Weir on the River Wye
Engraver: Jukes, Francis
Medium: Aquatint, coloured
As visitors travelled up the River Wye valley they would pass a number of weirs. These were dams over the river with only a narrow space for the passage of river crafts. This is one of a series of views on the River Wye by artist Edward Dayes (1763-1804).
