View of an old timber framed house in Kingston Upon Thames, near All Saints parish church. Kingston is situated on the River Thames to the south west of London and thanks to the good road and water systems has been a thriving market town since 1208 when its first charter was granted by King John. The most famous charter was granted by King Charles I who, in 1628, gave the town the right to ban all other markets within 7 miles.
