St Peter's church in Limpsfield was mentioned in the Domesday Book, when it was under the patronage of Battle abbey. The Norman-era building was substantially renovated in the 13th century, with the addition of a longer chancel. The tower is one of the oldest parts of the church, dating from around 1180, and is topped by a pyramid roof.
