View of Bala Lake on the River Dee in North Wales. The River Dee is over 70 miles in length and flows through Bala Lake or ‘Llyn Tegid’ in Welsh, where it forms the largest natural body of water in Wales being over four and a half miles in length and approximately a mile in width. The lake is over 80 feet deep and as can be seen from this print has been a popular site for fishing for over two hundred years. The lake features in Welsh mythology and one legend holds that there is a lost palace beneath the waves.
