View of the Powder magazine in Phoenix Park, Ireland. The magazine was built in 1738 about 1 mile from the city of Dublin and covered three acres of land. Later in 1801 accommodation was built for soldiers and officers to arm the magazine. Jonathan Swift wrote the following lines about the building,
'Behold the proof of Irish sense, here Irish wit is seen: When nothing's left that's worth defense, we build a magazine'
