View of the Royal Salute Battery in Phoenix Park, Dublin. Francis Jukes (1745-1812), the artist, wrote the following lines about this picture,
“This represents the rear of the Battery, with a distant view of the Royal Hospital, for invalids at Kilmainham. Since these views were taken the battery has been crowded with extra buildings; and twenty one pieces of canon, mounted on iron ship carriages, have been placed on the platform, to which a low parapet has been added. The whole is rough cast, and in its present state exhibits an irregular and confused appearance".
