A View of Pigeon Island, taken from Gros-Islet-Bay St. Lucia
Artist: Forrest, Charles
An engraving, taken from a drawing by Charles Forrest, depicting Pigeon Island on the north west coast of St. Lucia. It was from here that the British Admiral George Rodney set out in 1782 to attack the French Fleet under the command of Admiral Comte de Grasse. The ensuing battle, in which the British were successful, became known as the ‘Battle of the Saints’.
