South view of the St Martin's parish church of Brasted in Kent, with a couple of boars outside the church yard. It lies north of the village facing the Down. The church is of interest as it is the burial place of John Turton in 1806, who was George III's doctor. Dr Turton lived nearby in a Palladian villa built for him by Robert Adam in 1784-5. The artist may be Captain Francis Grose (1731-1791), a topographical draughtsman who lived in Richmond, Surrey, who make frequent sketching tours around the country.
