View of the Church in Beddgelert, Wales. Beddgelert is situated at the junction of three vales, near the confluence of the Rivers Glaslyn and Colwyn. A Celtic Christian community was established here in the 6th century and an Augustinian priory was built here in the 13th century. The priory would have been a resting place for pilgrims journeying to Ireland. Little remains of the original building because much was destroyed by fire however it is known that the church consisted of a nave and chancel to with was added a transept in the 19th century.
