View of Oldcourt Castle, County Wicklow, Ireland. The castle, which is a typical example of a Norman tower house, is situated on a natural platform, overlooking the valley and the Swan River. The tower was built between 1400 and 1600 and consists of a rectangular, four storey stone tower. Oldcourt Castle was built from irregularly shaped stone and masonry rubble and interestingly there is no access to the inside at the ground floor level, instead a staircase would have led to a narrow passage built into the walls of the tower on the first floor. Inside a spiral staircase leads from the second to the fourth floor.
