View of Dublin Bay in Ireland taken from Clontarf. The coastline of Dublin county is notably indented with numerous creeks and inlets- Dublin Bay, situated on the east coast is the largest of these. The bay is also where the largest river in Island, the Liffey, meets the sea making it an important harbour since the early 18th century. Howth Head marks the northerly boundary of the Bay and Brey Head the south. In the 18th century Clontarf was a coastal village, well known for its fishing and curing industries.
