View of Dramana or Dromana in County Waterford in south eastern Ireland. Ryland in his ‘History Topography and Antiquities of the City and County of Waterford’ written in 1824, makes the following remarks about the area and the Mansion house,
“ Dromana, in the parish of Affane, is one of the most magnificent demesnes in Ireland, and when we consider its historical associations, or its natural beauties, is deserving of some particular notice… To view Dromana to the greatest advantage, it should be approached by crossing the Black water, which runs between Lismore… The mansion appears suspended over the river, and land shelving rapidly, in some places perpendicularly, to the waters edge. The view from this point is grand and striking: the banks of the Blackwater; thickly clothed with flourishing trees, which seem to support the projecting windows of the castle, the hanging gardens and the beautiful windings of the stream compose a landscape which it is impossible to behold without admiration”.
