View of the Fownhope Court in Hereford. The town of Fownhope is situated on the eastern bank of the River Wye, approximately six miles from Hereford. Fawnhope Court was built in the 17th century on the site of an earlier house. Jacobean in style the house was symmetrical and had gables and the distinctive chimneys of this period. From the 17th century until the 20th century the house and estate were owned by the Lechmere family.
