St Ebbe's church is dedicated to a little known Anglo-Saxon saint, the 7th-century Northumbrian abbess, Ebba of Coldingham. The present font in the church was installed between 1810 and 1820 and is carved in the Gothic style. This font is likely to be from a much earlier date.
