View of the keep of Goodrich Castle in Herefordshire, western England. The keep dates from the 12th century and is the earliest part of the castle. It consists of a three storied tower and stands about 25x25 feet square. The original entrance to the keep was via a flight of external stairs to the first floor doorway however in the 14th or 15th century this was blocked in and used as a window, and a new door was created on the ground floor. It is a relatively small keep an does not have a hall or chapel which would have been usual at this time.
