Drawing of Bradbourne, the seat of Sir Roger Twysden (or Twisden), Bart. At East Malling, Kent. This house was completed for Sir [Thomas or Francis] Twisden in 1713-5 around the core of an older house. It was a U-shaped house, and the garden front, shown in this view, was the showpiece It is symetrical block of two stories and 9 bays wide. The ground floor has tall sash windows but the first floor has smaller sashes. It is built of 4 different shades of red brick which provide attractive variation in the colour and texture in the facade.
