This stone with a Hebrew inscription was found in the old Roman wall that encircled the city of London. The first wall was built late in the first century AD and by AD390 had been substantially restored and strengthened. In the 18th century the growth of the city and lack of space for new buildings meant that parts of the wall were dismantled.
