Jesse the father of David, King of Israel
Artist and engraver: Fowler, William
Bright drawing of the stained east window of St Mary's church in Shrewsbury. It depicts the Old Testament figure Jesse, who was father of King David of Israel. St Mary's is the largest church in Shrewsbury, known for its spire and its stained glass, the Jesse window being the highlight. This Jesse was probably originally made for the Franciscan church at Shrewsbury. It was housed in another Shrewsbury church, St Chad's, before being moved to St Mary's in 1792.
