View from Otter Island of Derwentwater (sometimes known as Keswick Lake), in Cumbria Northern England. Derwentwater is approximately three miles in length and a mile and a half in width. Otter isle is one of many islands on Derwentwater, it is very small and is situated at the head of the lake. As can be seen from this print, the lake is surrounded by mountains and it is well known for its striking scenery. The artist William Green (1760-1823), was a well known landscape painter. He moved to the Lake District in 1880 giving up a career as a surveyor to paint.
