View in watercolour of Kingsgate Bay on the Isle of Thanet in Kent. Henry Lord Holland had an estate here. In the 1760s he build a large house here, Holland House, and also several follies dotted along the cliffs. To the far right is one of them: Kingsgate Castle, a stable block built in the form of a castle of the time of Edward I. Below on the beach is the gateway to Holland House. In the middle of the picture is Holland House, with its six columned Doric portico, situated precariously close to the cliff edge. To the left of Holland House, is the Captain Digby Inn.
