View of Kilkerran castle in Aryshire, Scotland. The castle situated on the Kintyre peninsula, was thought to have been built in the 15th century by King James IV to act as a base from which to subdue the MacDonald clan. Only the ruins of this castle survive today. A later castle was built nearby in what is now the centre of the town of Campbellown. This castle was replaced by Castlehill Church which has now been converted into private apartments.
