View of Killiney Bay near Dublin, Ireland. In the 18th century Dublin and the adjacent coast were not thought to be as open to invasion than the south and west of the island. However Killiney Bay was thought to be the most vulnerable place on the coast as at this point there was a firm sandy beach and a deep natural harbour. The beach is surrounded by rocks and hills and the area is known for its beautiful landscape.
