View of the Castle of Loch Dochart. Situated on the banks of Loch Dochart, in the Western Highlands of Scotland, it is part of the River Dochart. The castle is a 16th century tower house built by Black Duncan Campbell. The Campbell clan were an old and powerful Scottish family who built many castles to defend their lands. The castle was destroyed in the 17th century. This picture was by Thomas Walmsley (1763- 1806) a well known landscape artist.
