View of All Saints Church in Mugginton in Derbyshire. The church is situated on a knoll overlooking the valley of Merchaston Brook. The earliest parts of the church date from the 11th century and may be Saxon or early Norman. In the churchyard there is an ancient yew tree. During the middle ages it was common to plant yew trees in churchyards. Yew wood was needed to make the English Longbow .
