Nursted Church Kent 1790s
Medium: Watercolour with pen and ink
North view of St Mildred's Church in Nursted in Kent. This is a 15th century church of relatively simple design. The nave and chancel have no division between them. The west tower was built of ragstone and has an octagonal stair turret in the north corner, which can be seen in this view. Unusually this church is dedicated to a Kentish Saint: St Mildred who was born in Minster in the 7th century and to whom there was also a convent dedicated to on the Isle of Thanet.
