Engraver: Ackermann, R.
Medium: Aquatint with etching, coloured
Print of Lord Nelson's elaborate funeral car which had carved representations of the head and stern of Nelson's ship Victory. After his death in 1805, Nelson was given a splendid state funeral and burial. From 5th to 7th January, his body lay in state in the Painted Hall of the Royal Hospital at Greenwich. Then his body was placed in Charles II's state barge and rowed up the river to Westminster for the funeral.
