View from the Palace of Abergwili in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The Palace was the seat of the Bishops of St Davis’s from 1542 until 1974 but was originally built as a theological college by Thomas Beck in the late 13th century. Abergwili is situated on the northern banks of the River Tywi and the landscape, as can be seen from this picture, was made up of many small farms each consisting of a number of irregularly shaped fields.
