View of St Botolph’s church in Shenley, Hertfordshire. Records suggest that the church was built in 1424 however it is thought that another religious building stood here before this time. Today the church does not have a tower or a chancel and it is thought that these were burned down in a fire which also destroyed the original roof. Interestingly the village of Shenly is situated three quarters of a mile from the church, and the rectory is remote from both the church and the village. St Botolph’s was converted into a private residence in 1981.
