St Mary Magdalen's, Taunton

St Mary Magdalen's, Taunton

Medium: Aquatint

Date: 1809

Shelfmark: Ktop XXXVIII

Item number: 8-a

Genre: Topographical Print

St Mary Magdalene's church has an unusually top-heavy tower that looks out of proportion to the rest of the church. The tower was funded by the legacies of parishioners and was built between 1488 to 1514. It is very much in the 'Gothic Perpendicular' style - with all the major lines kept straight, although the top of the tower is intricately and delicately decorated.
