View of a bridge over the river near Dolgelly or Dolgellau, North Wales. Dolgellau is situated in a valley at the foot of the Cader Idris mountain range between the Arran and Wnion rivers and is the county town of Meirionydd. Its name translates from the Welsh as the ‘dale of the hazel groves’. Dolgellau became a popular base for travellers in 19th century Wales who wanted to explore the Snowdonia mountain range.
