A hand drawn plan or sketch by Nicholas Hawksmoor of King's College at Cambridge. Hawksmoor was recommended by Christopher Wren to design the improvements to King's College. The college had a magnificent chapel but only a small courtyard and needed further buildings. Hawksmoor planned not only to extend the college but to create a Baroque style piazza in the centre of Cambridge. He was not a map maker and it seems likely this drawing was made in connection with his 'improvements'. The date is about 1720-30.
