Date: 1814

Shelfmark: Ktop XXVI

Item number: 6-n

Genre: Topographical Drawing

The Great Fair of 1814 allowed Londoners to celebrate the end of the war with France. The highlight was a naval re-enactment on the Serpentine lake of several famous naval battles, complete with guns firing at enemy ships, slowly sunk to the sound of national anthem. In this drawing, British and American ships are set against one another, while the crowds watch the action and cheer.
