The Salute Battery in the Phoenix Park
Engraver: Jukes, Francis
Medium: Aquatint, coloured
View of the Royal Salute Battery in Phoenic Parkin Dublin, Ireland. Francis Jukes (1745-1812), the artist, wrote the following lines about this picture,
"The ground seems cut away to the bottom of the ditch, to show the height of the wall of the platform, otherwise it would appear at some distance, as if the cannon were planted on the high road, which runs before it, close to the ditch. The platform and rear wall are of stone; the houses, and portal of the gate, of brick".
