View of the village of Ivybridge in Devon. In the 18th century the small community was centred around the London hotel, which was a stopping point for travellers on the Exeter to Plymouth Road. This high arched bridge was the only crossing of the River Erme until 1819. As can be seen in this print it was quite narrow and could not allow through heavy traffic. Ivybridge is located at the intersection of four old parishes: Hartford, Ugborough, Ermington and Cornwood.
